Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:30 PM, Monday, Jan. 1, at Parkway Funeral Service.

Gladys was born on June 11, 1949 to Elmer and Macy (Sanwick) Witikko. She was raised and received her education in Linton, ND. During her teens, her family moved to Tappen, ND, for a year where she met Virgil Harter whom she later married on July 3rd, 1967.

After marriage, she settled in Bismarck and raised her four children. She worked with Virgil in his construction business, and at St. Alexius Health for 25 years where she made many lifelong friends. She enjoyed gardening, having show horses with the children, hosting family events and holidays, and being on bowling teams.

During her youth, she lived on a farm where she loved the outdoors and riding horse. Her daily chores included feeding the horses, cows and chickens. Her relationship with her siblings growing up was tight knit, over all these years she would speak to Sandra on a daily basis but her bond with her twin Gloria could not be matched. Glady's gentle reminder of being born first always kept an upbeat nature their kinship.

She was the best mother, her whole world absolutely revolved around her children and her house. She meticulously prepared every meal and kept the home very tidy. Gladys’ attention to the needs of her children was unsurpassed. She lovingly made chokecherry for family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed sudoku and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings.

Gladys was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Witikko, mother, Macy Sandwick Schiermeister, husband, Virgil Harter, daughter, Kimberly Radig, and son, Troy Harter.

She is survived by her daughter, Kari White, son, Steven (Janice) Harter, sister, Darlene Dickson, brother, Dennis (Patricia) Bollinger, twin sister, Gloria Opp, sister, Sandra (Alan) Moch, and six grandchildren Tyler, Kristin, Jessica, Shawn, Ethan, and Hailey.
