January 17, 1931 — May 17, 2024

Bismarck

Glenn Thieling, 93, went to his Heavenly Home on May 17, 2024. He resided at the Edgewood on Dominion in Bismarck.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, May 25 at Tuttle Community Church, 401 Main St, Tuttle, ND.

The burial will be in the Tuttle Cemetery.

Glenn was born on January 17, 1931, in Kidder County to Will and Nellie (Dodge) Thieling. He was the last child of 10. He attended school in Tuttle but didn’t graduate because he was needed on the farm. He engaged in farming northwest of Tuttle with his father, and also after his father passed until 1957 when they sold the farm. He was employed as a farm laborer, then as a mechanic in Tuttle and later in Abercrombie, ND. While there he took a welding course at the Wahpeton State School of Science.

In 1972 he moved to the Fargo area where he hauled cars 24 years for the Janesville Auto Transfer in Dilworth, MN. He was a lifetime member of the Tuttle United Methodist Church but attended Bethal Evangelical Free while in Fargo. After he retired, he and his sister Janet spent 20 winters in Arizona.

Glenn enjoyed being with his friends and family. His coffee time with Fargo friends was a highlight of his day. He also had a special love for dogs, especially big ones. Even when his memory was failing, he could tell you about the dogs that came to visit at the home. He was also happy if he could lend a hand to someone in need, giving them a ride, fixing something, or visiting a shut-in. He was very generous to charities, especially those that helped children or Veterans.

Glenn was greatly loved by his family and will be missed by those he left behind. His sister, Janet is his only sibling along with nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, six sisters, along with in laws. Lawrence Thieling, Ruth Thieling, Forrest and Freda Thieling, Marion and Shirley Hall, Vernice Thieling, Vera and Walter Krein, Elaine and Larry Bisbee, Jacob Hieb, Esther and Bill White. Also, three nephews, Kenny Hieb, Dan Hieb, and Arlyn Hall, and one great-nephew, Bradley Rath.
