Guy Lynn Schiermeister, 72, Bismarck, was united with Jesus on November 5, 2025. A celebration of his life will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 12 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. Family will be present one hour prior to the service to greet guests and share in memories of Guy.
On July 25, 1953, Marvin and Constance (Niles) Schiermeister welcomed their only son, Guy Lynn, into the world in Corona, California, where his father had been stationed in the U.S. Marines. He was raised on a ranch seven miles south of Tappen with his parents and sister, Deme. Guy graduated from Tappen High School in 1973. While growing up and helping his family tend to the ranch, his favorite pastimes were riding his motorbike and caring for the chickens - from which stemmed a lifelong love of animals.
First married to Janet Reichenberg, Guy was blessed with the arrival of his firstborn, Lamar. From his second marriage to Marla Delaney, his daughters, Marisa and Vicki, were born, whom he often referred to as “his beauty queens.”
The Drumstick Cafe is where Guy and Lori’s love story began when Lori trained him. They had 41 years together, enjoying camping and hiking in Medora, gardening, family functions, and most importantly, each other’s company. In 2008, their bond was sealed in holy matrimony.
Generous and humble, Guy was a kind-hearted man with a heart of gold. Happy and content with a quiet life, he lived it to the fullest. He was a certified welder and worked temporarily at Bobcat; however, the career he enjoyed most was cooking and dishwashing at restaurants. Other passions included fishing and waterskiing, and mechanically inclined, he was often found tinkering on vehicles.
Guy is survived by his wife, Lori; children, Lamar (Melissa) Rath, Marisa (Ben) Olesen and Vicki (Shaun) Riveland; seven grandchildren, Kylee, Laci, Jaron, Eliana, Samara, Tobin and Steven; and great-grandchild, Reina; sister, Demryce “Deme” Zander and her husband, Bryan; nephew, Sky (Patty) Roemmich; and niece, Romelle (Garrett) Barnick, and their children, Cole and Wyatt.
Guy was preceded in death by his parents.
