Gwendolyn J. Schmidt

Gwendolyn Schmidt, 72, Bismarck, passed away on Sunday August 10, 2025, at Missouri Slope.

A Memorial Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway. Bismarck.

Burial will be held at Our Savior Cemetery, Rural Mercer, ND.

Gwendolyn (Gwen) Julie Schmidt lived her life by two guiding principles, love and family. When Gwen was born on April 25, 1953, she first learned the value of love and family from her parents, Emil and Eleanor Anderson. Growing up in rural Mercer, ND, Gwen continued to learn the lessons of love and family through her close relationships with her siblings, Randy, Carmen, Mike, and Ellen. Gwen later found the love of her life, Allan Schmidt, and was married April 15, 1973. Their love was fierce and unwavering. Their love and family grew as they raised three children together, Lenora, Alaina, and Alex. Gwen would be so excited to learn she is going to be a grandmother once again.

While Gwen was quiet and reserved, she touched the lives of everyone she met. In addition to spending quality time with her family, Gwen loved to read, play games, bake, garden, and work on arts and crafts projects. Gwen may no longer be here to teach us the value of love and family; however, those lessons will continue to be passed down through the generations. Gwen lost her battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on August 10, 2025.

Gwen is survived by her three children, Lenora (Todd) Reidman, Alaina Schmidt, and Alex (Jena) Schmidt; five grandchildren, Brandon (Terri) Reidman, Tanner (Erin) Reidman, Beckam Wolf, Vega Wolf, and Bower Schmidt; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Randy (Marlys) Anderson, Carmen (Sharon) Anderson, Mike (MaryAnn) Anderson and Ellen Anderson; brother-in-law Jerry (Edie) Schmidt and sister-in-law Dona (Ron) Kirby.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan; her parents, Emil and Eleanor; her parents-in-law, Lloyd and Meta Schmidt; sister, DeeAnn Anderson.
