Hattie O. Wolf

Hattie Wolf, 97, Bismarck, formerly of Tuttle/Steele, peacefully passed away with her family beside her on September 23, 2025.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, September 29 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 203 Mitchell Ave S, Steele, ND.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday, September 28 at Trinity Lutheran Church with a prayer service to follow.

Hattie O. Wolf, daughter of Edward and Christina (Landenberger) Leno, was born September 9, 1928 in Tuttle, ND. She received eight years of education at a rural school and attended Tuttle Public High School where she graduated in 1946. After graduation she taught at a country school for one year.

She married Elmer Wolf on June 29, 1947 at Zion Lutheran Church, south of Tuttle and to this union, five children were born, Dennis, Lois, Marvin, Marlyce, and Glenn.

Hattie was a farm wife for many years. In addition, Hattie and Elmer owned and operated the Tuttle Café for a time. She also cooked at the Home Town Café in Robinson for four years, the Tuttle Senior Center for four years and the Tuttle Public School.

Hattie and Elmer retired in 1995 and moved to Steele where they became members of Trinity Lutheran Golden Age Club. She served as president for three years and they were also members of the Active Senior Club where Hattie was treasure for several years in addition to being treasure of AAL. She was also a life member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary #6833 at Tuttle.

Hattie crocheted the Lord’s Prayer, which was framed and now hangs in the English Lutheran Church in Tuttle. She loved Sundays, especially when family came to visit. Having her grandchildren around filled her with joy. They loved coming to Grandma’s house, knowing they’d always be welcomed with love and a good meal.

Hattie is survived by her children, Dennis (Laura) Wolf, Lois (Wally) Kahler, Marlyce (Bill) Kemnitz, Glenn (Karla) Wolf, and daughter-in-law Constance; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; sisters, Julia and Edna; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer; her parents, sister, Betty; brothers, David, Edward, and Fred; son, Marvin; and granddaughter, Lori (Kahler) Waltsak.
