Hazel “Cheri” Dorgan, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 81.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, June 4, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck, ND.
Visitation will be held from 3-4:30 PM on Wednesday, June 3, at Parkway Funeral Service. A prayer service will begin at 4:30 PM.
Burial will be held at Sterling Cemetery in Sterling, ND.
Hazel was born on July 19, 1944, in Bremerton Washington, to Robert and Doris Levi. She was the youngest of seven children and moved to South Dakota as a young child, where she spent much of her youth.
On May 21, 1962, Hazel married Norman Dorgan. Although they later divorced, they remained lifelong close friends and shared a deep bond throughout the years. Together they raised two children, Steven and Brenda.
Family was the center of Hazel’s life. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren, Megan and Bryce, whom she adored beyond measure. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with them and celebrate their accomplishments.
Hazel was known for her warm heart and generous spirit. She loved cooking and baking for family and friends and was especially famous for her delicious strawberry pie and sugar cookies. She also had a lifelong love of music and dancing, bringing joy and laughter wherever she went.
Throughout her working years, Hazel was familiar face at Top’s Truck Stop in Sterling, where she worked as a cashier for many years. She also spent time providing house-cleaning services and earned appreciation from those she served.
She is survived by her son, Steven Dorgan of Sterling, North Dakota; Brenda Mack (Steve) of Bismarck, North Dakota: granddaughter Megan Mack (Scott Kramer) of Seattle, Washington; grandson Bryce Mack of Duluth, Minnesota; sister-in-law Colleen Preszler Bismarck, North Dakota.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; prior spouse and lifelong friend Norman Dorgan; siblings, Dwight Levi, Margaret Jones, Hough Levi, Patricia Boullion, Donna Edwards and Dennis Levi; her father-in-law Howard Dorgan; mother-in-law Lillian Dorgan; and her brother-in-law Herman Preszler.
Hazel will be remembered for her love of family, her kindness, her wonderful baking, and the happiness she brought to those around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who know and loved her.
