With grateful hearts for a life well lived, Hildegarde Mock, 94, was called home to her Heavenly Father on July 7, 2026.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 14, at St. Kathrine Catholic Church, 200 1st Ave N, Braddock.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, July 13, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 3117 E Century Ave, with a Rosary/Vigil Service starting at 7 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be held at St. Katherine Cemetery.

Hilda was born on September 4, 1931, to Anthony and Philippine (Unser) Silvernagel. She grew up in the Strasburg area before her family settled near Braddock. As the oldest of eleven children, she attended country school through the sixth grade before returning home to help care for her younger siblings and work on the family farm. She took great pride in her role as the oldest and set a great example for all her siblings to follow throughout her life.

After years of helping on the family farm, Hilda accepted a job at St. Alexis Hospital in Bismarck. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Leo Mock, who had recently returned home from the U.S. Army.

Hildegarde and Leo were married on June 8, 1955, at St. Katherine’s Catholic Church in Braddock. In 1959, they purchased the farm where they raised their five children. She took pride in tending chickens, milking cows, cooking delicious meals for her family, and growing her garden. Once her children were older, she began working at the Golden Manor in Steele, where her strong work ethic was evident through many years of service.

Hilda was a member of St. Katherine’s Church, where she also served on the Altar Society. She was also a member of the South Central Threshing Association, the Persian Lake Homemakers Club, the Quilting Club, and the Braddock Senior Citizens.

Hilda was a caring wife, a loving mother, and a wonderful grandmother to her many grandchildren. She especially enjoyed sewing and quilting, polka parties on Sunday afternoons, playing pinochle, and watching her grandkids play sports. Hilda was an excellent cook and perfected many recipes including wedding kuchen, creamed chicken, and homemade caramel rolls.

If there is one person in this world who deserves to go to Heaven, it is Hildegarde. She was a devout Catholic who spent countless hours praying the rosary, attending Mass, and watching EWTN. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Savior.

She is survived by her five children, Carla Houghton, Valerie (Max) Skaare, Dan (Diane) Mock, Serena Schmidt, and Anthony Mock; grandchildren, Rebecca (Neil) Fanta, Amber (Brandon) Binder, Renae (Courtney) Witt, Justin (Olivia) Houghton, Jessica (Anthony) Longstreth, (Nicole) and Eric (Kaycie) Skaare, Jacob, Kayelin, and Leah Mock, Paige (Jayden) Schmidt-Rios, Austin, Madelyn, and Ava Schmidt, and Riley, Colby, Leo, Sidney, Charlie, and Aspyn Mock; great-grandchildren, Chance, Clay (Paige), Cooper, and Cambyll Fanta, Hunter and Beau Binder, Ella, Eli, and Easton Witt, Korbin, Tucker, and Aubree Houghton, and Luke and Lucy Longstreth; brothers, Myron (Ileen) Silvernagel and Leonard Silvernagel; sisters, Isabelle (Larry) Johns, Gladys (Gino) Dentice, and Mary (Floyd) Soggie; sister-in-law, Donna Silvernagel; and many more relatives whom all of which she cherished.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; grandson, Adam Skaare; son-in-law, Jason Schmidt; parents, Anthony and Philippine Silvernagel; brothers, Charles, Richard, Anthony, and Patrick (Madonna) Silvernagel; sister, Phyllis (Albert) Dallman; and sister-in-law, Kitty Silvernagel.
