Obituary

Hope LaVonne Wiedrich, 74, of Bismarck, ND, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on February 2, 2019.   Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, February 11, at McCabe United Methodist Church, 1030 N 6th St, Bismarck, with Rev. Mark Ehrmantraut officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm Sunday, February 10, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 4:00 pm. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Hope was born September 26, 1944, in Dickinson, ND, to Lewis and LaVonne (Johnson) Voeltz. Her family moved to Hazen shortly after her father passed away. In 1954, LaVonne Voeltz met and married Walt Rosenow. Hope graduated from Hazen High School in 1962 as valedictorian of her class. She worked for Hazen attorneys until 1964 when she married James Wiedrich. They moved to Minot and Grand Forks, while James finished college. During that time, Hope was a legal secretary for various attorneys. In 1969, they moved back to Minot where she continued to work for an attorney. In 1971, Hope started her career of a lifetime, when she became a loving mother. She then stayed home to raise her two children. In 1977, they moved to Bismarck to become part-owners of Premium Beverages. Through their business, they made many lasting friendships. Hope worked as an Executive Secretary at Premium until their retirement in 2005. Hope enjoyed bowling and made many long-lasting friendships through the various leagues she was a part of. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and watching “her programs” Jeopardy, which you knew there was no talking during this half hour.   Hope’s greatest gift she gave was the love of Jesus to her children, granddaughters, and family. Music was always a focal point throughout her life. Her mother was musically gifted on the piano, a gift that Hope said skipped her.   She enjoyed singing along and listening to gospel music from Elvis to The Gaithers. Hope was steadfast in her faith and was a member of McCabe United Methodist Church in Bismarck. Hope was a devoted wife to James. Their loving marriage of 54 years was a shining example to others. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her granddaughters. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, James; her daughter and son-in-law, Andrea (David) Werner, Bismarck; and her son, Rich Vail, Apple Valley, MN; her granddaughters, Lindsey and Allison Werner; her mother, LaVonne Rosenow, Beulah, ND; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Janyce (Paul) George, Seneca, SC, LuAnne (Jeff) Lee, San Diego, CA, Ferne (Ray) Richardson, Las Vegas, NV; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Barry (Peggy) Voeltz, Clarkston, MI, and Arch (Luanne) Rosenow of Hazen, ND; sisters-in-law, Luella Grosz, Mandan, Lorreta Link, Bismarck, and Kathy Hirchert, Wilton; brother-in-law, Albert (Barb) Wiedrich, Blairville, GA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Lou Voeltz; her dad, Walt Rosenow; one niece, Brooke George; and nephews, Zachary Voeltz and Stacey Grosz. Memorials may be given to McCabe United Methodist Church in Bismarck and Salem United Methodist Church in Hazen in Hope’s memory.
