Irene Doerr, 94, Bismarck passed away on April 25, 2023.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM, Monday, May 1 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 1919, N. 2nd St., Bismarck.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 4:00PM, Sunday, April 30, with a rosary service starting at 4:00PM at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave, Bismarck.
Irene was born in Bismarck on June 18, 1928 to Katherine and John Werner. She attended and graduated from St. Mary’s Highschool. Irene worked as a switchboard operator, with the original plug-in-manual connect calls. She also worked as a flag person for James J. Igoe and Sons Construction Company in the construction of the Grant Marsh Bridge.
Irene met and fell in love with Emil Doerr and married in 1946. She enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling with her family. Moving from city to city to follow Emil’s employment. She enjoyed playing pinochle and socializing with friends at local clubs. Always tying her luck at pull tabs. She and Emil enjoyed listening and dancing to good old-time waltzes, square dancing and polka music. Following Emil’s retirement, they had the pleasure of being snowbirds in Texas.
Irene is survived by children, Cheryl (Don) Hellman, Colette (Ken) Wieland, Doug (Rosie) Doerr, Pamela Doerr, Danita (Keith) Hunke, Kathleen Stadel; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two sisters, Sharon and Gloria.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five sisters; three brothers and grandson, Christopher J Hellman.
