Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Iris Antoinette was born December 26, 1923 to Ralph and Aplonia (Steinmetzer) Peoples in Minot. She was raised and educated in Minot.
On June 20, 1942 Iris married Marvin Quandt in Missoula, Montana. To this union, they welcomed four children: Sharren, Barbara, Joan and Bruce. She was actively involved in her children’s activites, being a 4-H and Boy Scout leader. She was very active in her church, and held several offices. Her faith in God guided her life.
Together with their family, they built a log cabin in Glacier National Park. They shared many happy times there with family and friends. After Marvin’s retirement, they purchased a travel trailer and toured the United States and Canada.
Iris was an extremely talented seamstress, crafter and cook. She was an avid lover of puzzles, games, and cards and was most often the winner!
She was a nature lover, from gardening to flower growing, identifying birds, and taking deep breaths of mountain air. She achieved expert levels of beach combing and rock hounding. She preferred sitting outside in the warm sunshine.
Iris is survived by her children, Sharren (Charles) Goehring and Joan (Robert) Smeltzer; grandchildren, Brad Wood, Brian Wood, Tim Wood, Lisa Schmidt, Stacy Goehring, Doug Goehring, Angela Vincent, Cindy Ruzek, Ryan Kopp, Kim Kaye, and Kristin Moody; 21 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; son, Bruce; daughter, Barbara Hildebrand; and granddaughter, Laurie Bischof.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church, Lincoln.
