James "Jim" Frank

June 22, 1960 — November 30, 2025

James "Jim" Ronald Frank, 65, of Mandan, ND, passed away on November 30, 2025, at his home in Mandan. Born on June 22, 1960, in Bismarck, ND, Jim was the son of Ronald and Sharon Frank. He grew up in the heart of North Dakota and graduated from Flasher High School in 1978. Following high school, he pursued technical training in welding at BJC in Bismarck, laying the foundation for a life rooted in hard work and craftsmanship. Jim met his wife in 1986 and they were married in 1989. Together, with their family spent the rest of his life farming and ranching in Shields, ND until he retired to move to Mandan, ND to spend more time with his grandchildren.

Jim was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, whose life was deeply intertwined with the land and the people he loved. He found great joy in farming and ranching—occupations that reflected his strong work ethic and connection to nature. Whether tending to livestock or working the fields, Jim approached each day with dedication and pride.

An avid outdoorsman, Jim had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing. These pursuits were more than hobbies—they were traditions he cherished sharing with his children and grandchildren. Teaching them how to hunt for the first time was one of his greatest joys. He took pride in passing down his knowledge and skills, often celebrating a successful hunt with his signature phrase: “I still got it.”

Jim’s love for his family was unwavering, he was the foundation of his family. His wife, Tamera Frank, stood by his side through every season of life. Together they raised four children, whom he considered his greatest accomplishments. Tara (Brandon), Levi (Kylie), Alyssa ✝, and Matthew (Micaela). His grandchildren—Jamison who was at his side from the time he was old enough to climb into the tractors! Harper, Zoey, May, and Hannah—were the light of his world. He treasured every moment spent with them and delighted in being part of their lives. He enjoyed spending time with his close extended family: brother in-law Tim, wife Calie, nephew Conner and niece Aleah. His sister in-law Toni, husband Greg and nieces Kelsi and Kaylin.

He is also remembered with love by those who knew him as someone always willing to lend a hand. Whether helping neighbors or teaching a new skill to someone eager to learn, Jim’s generosity left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Sharon Frank; his daughter Alyssa Frank. His legacy lives on through the family he loved so dearly and the values he instilled in them—hard work, kindness, resilience, and a deep appreciation for nature. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire future generations.
