Jane Morrow, adored wife, mother, friend, and sparkle of every room, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of joy, kindness, generosity, and unforgettable laughter.
January 29, 1956 - May 6, 2025
Visitation will be on Friday, May 16 from 5-7:30 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck.
Jane was born on January 29, 1956, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the first child of Hensel and Bette Hendrickson. Her early years took her from Minneapolis to Kensett, Iowa, and finally to Bismarck, North Dakota, where her father accepted a pastoral call at Trinity Lutheran Church. It was in Bismarck that Jane's zest for life began to shine brightly. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1974 and went on to earn a degree in Mass Communications from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 1978.
Jane’s path after college was as adventurous as she was. She worked as an EMT, a job that brought her to Watford City, ND, where she met Kent Morrow, who was working as an attorney there. The two were married on August 15, 1981, in Bismarck, and together they built a life filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories.
Jane was a force of kindness and joy. For over 30 years, she dedicated her heart and soul as the Volunteer Director at Sanford Health, where she not only led with compassion but inspired countless lives with her unwavering commitment and joyful spirit. She worked tirelessly to transform the Sanford Gift Shop into a shopping destination.
A tireless supporter of the arts and her community, Jane served on the Boards of Directors for The Capital Gallery, the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra, the Dacotah Foundation, and Bis-Man Transit. She believed deeply in the power of beauty, culture, and compassion to enrich lives.
Jane was truly one of a kind—kind-hearted, whip-smart, hilariously funny, and always up for an adventure. She was the kind of woman who worked hard and played harder. Whether she was exploring sea glass on the shores in Maine and Cape Cod or catching a Broadway show in New York City, she did it all with flair, fun, and a perfectly coordinated outfit—complete with one of her many pairs of funky glasses and a fresh manicure and pedicure. Jane was always up for an adventure — even landing a spot as a movie extra in New York City!
She was a collector of treasures and memories: vintage Barbies, sea glass, good stories, and unforgettable moments. She proudly visited all 50 states and was well on her way to visit each Presidential Library and Graduate Hotel across the United States. Each trip was a testament to her zest for life and curiosity for the world. Shopping trips with her were legendary; she was the best partner-in-style and a true connoisseur of life’s little joys—like a crisp unsweetened iced tea from Starbucks (no sweetener, please!), a glass of Pinot Grigio, or a good margarita (always no salt). Jane’s playlist was as classic as her sense of humor—filled with the sounds of The Carpenters and Michael Bublé—and her sweet tooth always had room for Hot Tamales.
But beyond her vibrant personality and adventures, it was her love that defined her most and Jane’s greatest joy was her family. She was endlessly proud of her devoted husband Kent and their three children, Sarah, John, and Jenny-who were the lights of her life. Jane poured her heart into her family, delighting in helping Sarah set up her classrooms, curating books for Jenny’s libraries, and relaxing in California with John.
To know Jane was to know light, laughter, and love. She was the friend who remembered the little things, the colleague who brought joy to the workplace, and the mom and wife who made life magical. The world was brighter just by her being in it.
Her spirit lives on in the lives she touched, the laughter she sparked, and the memories she made. Though she often called herself “Just Plain Jane,” she was anything but.
She will be deeply missed and always remembered.
In honor of Jane, sip something sparkling, wear something bold, and never underestimate the power of a great pair of glasses and show empathy and generosity to all around you.
Missing her immensely are her loving husband, Kent; her children: Sarah (Bismarck), John (Los Angeles), and Jenny (Bismarck); and her adored pups: Gertie, Olive, Pickles, Chip and Teddy. She now joins her parents, Hensel and Bette Hendrickson, and her brother Bill, in eternal peace.
Memorials can be directed to the Morrow family, and they will distribute to some of Jane's favorite local community programs in memory and honor of Jane.
