Janet Seitz

June 27, 1965 — December 13, 2023

Bismarck

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Janet Seitz, age 58, on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. Jan was overcome with grief after the loss of her son two weeks earlier and died of a broken heart.

She is under the care of Parkway funeral home in Bismarck ND and visitation will be held Thursday, December 21st from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm with a time of sharing following and the funeral will be held Friday, Dec 22nd at 11:00 am at Parkway funeral home.

Jan was born June 27th, 1965, to Julius and Genevieve Hoff in Jamestown, ND. Jan and Tom were married in September of 1987, later welcoming twins in 1993, Brody and Allyssa.

Raising twins her motto was always to divide and conquer. When events in their lives were happening and both parents couldn’t be at both places, she devised detailed plans on how parental support was split up. That was how she lived her life, always had a detailed plan. We always had to take additional time off after family vacations to unwind after all the activities she planned.

Jan would light up any room she walked into. She had such a free spirit and was so approachable that her shopping trips at various places always took way longer than they should because random people would come up to her and start talking. Yes, she was known to block numerous shopping aisles.

Jan’s life was dedicated to her family, and she died with that same dedication. She wanted to be with her son Brody, so he didn’t have to make that journey alone.

Jan’s passing has dealt a heavy blow to everyone who knew her. She was ‘all in’ on everything she did. She was a beautiful soul that leaves a huge hole in a lot of people’s hearts. We now understand that her love knew no bounds, which is why she was called to take Brody’s hand and to guide him on his journey. Her way of dividing and conquering. She told Tom, you take Allyssa, I got Brody.

There are no words that can explain the loss we have endured and we are heartbroken.

Jan was a huge animal lover and was known for religiously walking her dogs regardless of the weather. She will be greatly missed by her loving dogs Dexter, who never left her side, and Bruno, which was Brody’s dog.

Jan was currently working from home for Aetna for the past 30+ years and loved her job and the people she worked with. You could always hear her laughter emanating from her office while she was conversing with her co-workers.

Jan is survived by her husband Thomas, Bismarck; her daughter Allyssa Seitz and Jesse Banks, Mandan; brother, Larry and Lori Hoff and Marvin Hoff, Jamestown. She is also survived by loving in-laws Rich and Cathy Fuchs, Mora, MN, Bernie and Barb Boyle, Oakes, ND, Dwight and Marge Frazer, Fargo, Curtis and Janet Janke, Jamestown, Mark and Tracy Seitz, Jamestown, John and Melissa Seitz, Hawley, MN, Bonnie Seitz, Fargo, ND,, Sarah Skjeret, Des Moines, IA. David Seitz, Fargo, ND, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
