Janice Weisenburger Anderson, age 80, of Bismarck, ND passed away on February 19, 2024.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Legacy United Methodist Church, 4600 Durango Dr, Bismarck. A funeral livestream will be available here: https://online.legacyumc.org/

Visitation will be held from 5:00-6:30 PM, Monday, Feb. 26, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave, Bismarck. A prayer service will begin at 6:30 PM.

Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Janice was born April 11, 1943 the eleventh out of fourteen children born to John and Lydia Weisenburger.  She grew up on the family farm attending Tuttle school.  She graduated in 1961 and spent time helping in the bowling alley and at the farm due to an illness her mother went through.  In 1962, she started attending secretarial courses at BJC while working part-time as a secretary for the school counselors at the Miller Elementary school.  She also took time to participate in the Miss Steele pageant.

She moved to Sacramento, California while her brothers Gary and Garold were stationed at Fort Ord.  She worked for the Motor Vehicle Department in Research and Statistics while residing in Sacramento, California.

Janice returned to Bismarck, ND in 1964 and married Allen (Andy) Anderson.   She went to work for Dairy Insurance.   She gave birth to three daughters Cindy in 1964, Sandy in 1965 and Pam in 1970.  In 1973, she began working for Kirshman Clark Equipment as a Melroe Internal Sales Representative.  Janice handled the agricultural product orders, sales forecasting, and arranging equipment manufacturing and shipping for dealers in the United States and Canada.

In 1982, Janice resigned from her position in Melroe to enjoy spending time at their lake home near Pick City, ND during the summer entertaining family and friends for the next seven years.  After selling the lake home, they purchased a 5th wheel camper and a fishing pontoon enjoying some camping with her twin brothers at Lake Audubon, as well as, with friends who came to visit and fish for walleye!  She worked during the winter months for JC Penny and in the office of a Tupperware distributor.

In 1986, Janice began working as a Claims Center Specialist in processing unemployment insurance claims for Job Service of North Dakota until 2003 retiring to golf, bowl, and fish spending more time with family and friends. Janice enjoyed being a mom, grandmother and great grandmother going to grandchildren’s football games, wrestling matches, volleyball games, band concerts and choir concerts.  She participated in a bowling league for 32 years and in her senior years she bowled Jackpot and played cards making many more new friends.  

Preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and in-laws:  Rachel (Julius) Wolff, Wilbert (Vivian) Weisenburger, Maynard (Maxine) Weisenburger, Glendell Weisenburger, Donnie (Eunice) Weisenburger, Shirley (Alvin) Gruebele, Mildred (Vernon) Rask, Gary Weisenburger, Garold Weisenburger, Stanley Weisenburger, Leon (Connie) Weisenburger and brother-in-law Jim Clapham.

Survived by:  Husband, Allen (Andy) Anderson; Daughters, Cindy Gorham, Sandy (John) Richter, and Pamela (Shahn) Steele.  Siblings, Arley (Sylvia) Weisenburger, and Gladys Clapham.  Sister-in-Laws, Julie Weisenburger, Betty Weisenburger and Sandra Woods.

Grandchildren: Cindy’s children:  Tanya West, Danyll Acuna, Chanc Fredrickson and Sabrina Coleman.   Sandy’s children:  Jayden, Josstyn (Hannah), Jamison (Kaylee), Jaxyn, Joryn, and Kielly (Fiancé Matthew Kaylor) Richter.  Pam’s children:  Carrson (Fiancé Ashley), Lauren, and Christian Steele.

Great Grandchildren:  Denee’ Fredrickson, Liam Fredrickson, Iliana Fredrickson, Torin Fredrickson, Gage Acuna, Stevie Foster, Aeden Shipman, Rosalie Richter, Anara Richter, and Addison Richter.
