Obituary

Jaydon Gregory Johnson, 23, of Bismarck, went home to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 12, at Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary, 825 E Broadway Ave, Bismarck, ND. Burial will follow Mass.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 -7:00 pm on Friday, September 11, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 3117 E Century Ave, with a Rosary/ Vigil service to begin at 7:00 pm.

Jaydon was born in Cando, North Dakota, to Gregg and Brenda Johnson. He grew up in Bismarck and graduated from St. Mary’s Central High School in 2021.

Jaydon went on to Bismarck State College, where he studied Power Generation Technology and was named to the President’s Honor Roll every semester. Before finishing his degree, he was already working rotating shifts as an intern at the Great Plains Synfuels Plant near Beulah, learning the plant alongside the operators while completing his classes online. He graduated in May 2024 with an Associate in Applied Science and went on to work for Dakota Gasification Company as a Tech 3 Power Plant Operator.

Jaydon was the only boy among five sisters, so he learned to hold his own early. He adored his sisters and showed it the way brothers do—teasing them, pulling jokes on them, and keeping them laughing. He was funny, quick with a joke, and almost impossible to catch in a serious photograph, because he was usually making a goofy face for the camera. He loved being outdoors, whether he was fishing, hiking, or camping, and he loved the people who were out there with him. He also enjoyed working on cars and online gaming with his friends, and he never turned down time with his family.

Jaydon is survived by his parents, Brenda and Gregg Johnson of Bismarck; his sisters, Jessica (Adam) Parker of Bismarck, Brittany (Aaron) Aaseth of Lincoln, Victoria (Adam) Geffre of Bismarck, McKenzie (Branden) Byrum of Bismarck, and Alexis (Gus Jensen) Johnson of Bismarck; his nieces and nephews, Christian and Brooklynn Parker, Axel and Leah Aaseth, and Kasen Byrum; his grandparents, Mary Ann and Nick Hettwer of Munich, N.D., and Della Johnson of Bismarck; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gordon Johnson; his uncle, Dana Masters; and his cousin, Chelsea Levesque.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary, 825 E Broadway Ave, Bismarck, ND 58501, in Jaydon’s memory, where Masses may be offered in his honor.
