Jean was born on April 23, 1952, in Eureka, South Dakota, to Henry H. Dollinger and Lorena Irene Dollinger. She was raised on the family farm near Venturia, North Dakota, where she spent lots of time with her grandfather while her parents farmed. She attended grade school in Venturia before graduating from Ashley High School. Jean continued her education at the North Dakota State School of Science, earning a degree in accounting, and went on to enjoy a successful career as an accountant. Jean married Rodney Seibel in 1972. From that marriage, two daughters were born, Kelly and Kara.
Faith was an important cornerstone of Jean's life. Raised in the Baptist church in Venturia, she joined the Lutheran church after her marriage. Her favorite hymn, The Old Rugged Cross, reflected the quiet strength and enduring faith that guided her throughout her life.
Jean found joy in life's simple blessings. She loved reading mystery novels, singing, and spending time with family. She never missed a bowling match and was always the loudest parent in the bowling alley as she cheered on Kelly and Kara. She treasured snowmobiling adventures through the Black Hills and Yellowstone National Park and had cherished memories of traveling to Nashville and the Grand Canyon. She never turned down a Hershey's chocolate bar with almonds or peanut M&Ms, enjoyed watching NCIS, loved the classic film Dirty Dancing, and her favorite color was blue. One of her favorite songs was Kitty Wells' It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels.
Her greatest pride came from her family. Welcoming the births of her daughters, watching her children graduate high school and college, and building the family home in Bismarck were among the accomplishments she cherished most.
Jean often smiled while sharing stories from her childhood. One favorite memory was of a tornado chasing her grandfather from the outhouse to the house just moments before the outhouse was blown over. Another story she loved retelling involved her grandfather placing a dead animal on the kitchen table, sending her grandmother chasing him through the house with a broom. These treasured memories reflected the laughter and close-knit family she held so dear.
Jean will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the love she poured into her family and friends. She leaves behind a lifetime of treasured memories that will continue to bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry H. Dollinger and Lorena Irene Dollinger.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Kelly Steffes (Jeremy Bubach) and Kara Seibel, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Maple View Memory Care for the exceptional care they provided Jean, and to everyone who has offered prayers, flowers, and expressions of sympathy during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Maple View Memory Care in Jean’s memory.
