Jeanette “Jan” Albers, 82, went home to meet our Lord Jesus Christ on June 28, 2025 peacefully in her home with her children by her side and her amazing caregivers supporting her to the very end. A service to celebrate Jan’s life will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 9 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. Family will greet guests one hour prior.
Private family burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Jan was born on October 19, 1942 in Halliday, ND to Richard and Frieda (Stuhlmiller) Frank. Her childhood years were spent on the beautiful prairie farm where they lived north of Dodge, ND. This is where she grew her appreciation for nature, especially flowers. In 1956, she and her parents moved to Bismarck, where Jan began high school. Jan found her place with a strong network of lifelong girlfriends that she cherished decades after graduating. After high school, Jan worked in customer service at a local lumber company. Jan was detailed and meticulous in all she did.
On January 18, 1964, young love won her over, and she married Henry “Hank” Albers. The two of them built their home in Bismarck and grew their family. Jan always put the needs of others before her own. Her greatest joy was caring for her children, Traci and Mitch. She was an incredible homemaker and a devoted wife supporting Hank in his business endeavors and proudly cheering him on at the racetrack.
Jan enjoyed the simple beauty of God’s earth. She had a passion for gardening and filled her yard with colorful flowers and greenery. Jan was also a wonderful baker who enjoyed baking treats for her family and grandchildren, who savored her homemade buns and chocolate chip bars, as did all their friends.
Jan and Hank loved traveling. They enjoyed RV camping, boating, and lake life at Sakakawea. She also enjoyed the ocean waters and tiki huts in Key West with a glass of chardonnay in hand and music in the background. She loved listening to a wide variety of music from polka to hits from Elvis Presley, Little Big Town, ZZ Top and Bruno Mars.
Jeanette “Jan” Albers will always be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and servant whose life was devoted to her family, friends, and faith. We celebrate and give thanks for the kind, sincere, and passionate love Jan brought to those who knew her. She was proud of her children and grandchildren. She will forever be in our hearts and will be missed deeply.
Jan is survived by her daughter, Traci (Jason) Hilsabeck and their children, Jack and Ally, of Bismarck; her son, Mitch (Kristi) Albers and their children, Campbell and Presley, of Mahtomedi, MN; her sister-in-law, LaDonna Rossow, of Oviedo, FL; and a host of dear nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the most dedicated and loving caregivers. Preceding her in heaven are her parents and husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, www.zionbismarck.org; Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch, www.dakotaranch.org. Both organizations were near and dear to her heart.
