Jeanne Devine

May 27, 1942 — July 24, 2025

Elizabeth “Jeanne” Devine, 83, Bismarck, formerly of Fargo, went to Heaven on July 24, 2025, with her son and daughter-in-law by her side.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church, 800 N 7th St, Bismarck.

Burial will take place at the Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.

Jeanne was born May 27, 1942, in Aberdeen, SD to Clemens and Gertrude (Albrecht) Kreitel. She was baptized June 7, 1942, at St. Mary’s Church in Aberdeen and graduated from Bismarck High School in May of 1960.

She married Leo B. Werner in 1962 and they had two sons, Mark Leo and James Dean. They divorced in 1977 and Jeanne and the boys moved to Fargo.

While working at American Family Insurance, she met and later married Steve Devine. Jeanne and Steve were married for 26 years until his passing in 2014. After Steve’s passing Jeanne started wintering in Arizona. She met the love of her life and soulmate, Bob Roark and they had six wonderful years together. In June of 2021, Jeanne moved back to Bismarck to be closer to her son and his family. She always told people Shelley was her angel.

Jeanne worked for Dakota Fire Insurance in Bismarck for 15 years and American Family Insurance in Fargo for 30 years.

Jeanne enjoyed doing pretty much anything, especially bowling (in 1989, she and her bowling team won a WIBC championship), playing pool, and card games—but her all-time favorites were bingo and dice. She could play those for hours. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and embroidery and had an extensive doll collection which she made all their clothes and blankets.

Jeanne was a very delightful and beautiful person. Everyone that met her had a true friend for life.

Jeanne is survived by son, Jim and daughter-in-law, Shelley; daughter-in-law, Lisa; stepdaughter, Teresa; grandchildren, Tyler and Kali (special friend, Brett), Gary, Blaise, Natalie and Ben; great grandson, Blaize; step grandchildren, Chase and Shelby; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patty (special friend, Jerry) Vicki, Kitty, Jackie and Chris, Mary and Greg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim & Jeanette, Steve, Dave and Joni, Tim and Sheila; sister-in-law, Lisa; brother-in-law, Ron; aunts, Martha, Marcella, and Annie; uncle, Tom; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and her buddy, “Tea” (Floyd).

The family would like to thank Zoe, Michelle and the rest of the Dakota Home Care staff, Lisa, Taylor, and Kayla with Sanford Hospice, Floyd Holmes, Michelle Roark and Mark Eaton. You all are true angels and we could not have kept Jeanne at home without all your help! God bless you all.

Jeanne, it's not goodbye, but until we meet again. Love you lots.
