Jeanne
Weeks
Jul 17, 1949 — Jul 7, 2026
Jeanne Kathleen (Freda) Weeks of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family following an extended illness on July 7, 2026, at the age of 76.
A Funeral Service will start at 11 a.m., on Saturday, August 15, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 3117 E Century Ave.
Jeanne was born on July 17, 1949, in Great Falls, Montana, to Catherine M. and John J. Ferda.
Jeanne devoted her life to what mattered most- being a loving wife, mother, and cherished “Nana” to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
She grew up in Great Falls, Montana, where she attended Catholic schools and graduated from Great Falls High School. She later attended Montana State University- Northern, where she earned a degree in cosmetology.
On September 25, 1971, Jeanne married the love of her life, Charles (Chuck) R. Weeks, and they moved to Bozeman, Montana, where Chuck completed his college education. Following graduation and training in California, they settled in Casper, Wyoming, where they welcomed their first daughter, Jennifer. Two years later Chuck joined Montana-Dakota Utilities in Glendive, Montana, where they welcomed their second daughter, Kaylene.
Jeanne often joked that she pleaded with Chuck not to move her to North Dakota. However, after spending 15 years between Glendive, Montana, and Sheridan, Wyoming, they relocated to Bismarck/Dickinson, North Dakota, where they made their home there for the next 33 years.
During that time, Jeanne worked as a teacher’s aid and later in retail. She enjoyed meeting people and took pride in making each customer feel welcomed. Jeanne enjoyed more than 20 years of retirement with her loving husband, spending winters with many good friends at Sunland Springs Village in Mesa, Arizona. After watching their two older grandchildren grow up in Bismarck, North Dakota, she and Chuck moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to be closer to their younger grandchildren as they grew up.
Jeanne was very artistic and enjoyed hobbies, such as flower arranging, ceramics, stained glass, glass fusion, and sewing. She was also noted for her baking skills, which included special cakes for special occasions, bread, cookies, caramel rolls, chewy caramels, and pies, such as peanut butter, pecan, and her favorite coconut cream. Jeanne will always be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her kindness, and the joy she found in caring for those she loved. Her greatest accomplishment was the family she nurtured and her legacy will live on through them.
Jeanne is survived by her loving husband, Chuck; daughters Jennifer (Tony) Baker of Bismarck, North Dakota, and Kaylene (Chris) Martin of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; granddaughters Katie Baker and Kennedy Baker of Bismarck; grandson Hudson Martin and granddaughter Ellery Martin of Eau Claire; and great-grandson Walker Smith of Bismarck. She is also survived by her sisters; Suzanne Plovanic of Great Falls, Montana, Nancy (Bruce) Wendelberg of Spokane, Washington, and Cathy (Henry) McLain of Centerville, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Rita Mutter of New Jersey and Sharon (Mick) Brain of Perth, Australia; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Kay Ferda; her in-laws Lottie Weeks and Richard Weeks; and brother-in-law David Plovanic.
A special thank you to the incredible team at St. Croix Hospice for the support, compassion, kindness, and dedication you showed to Jeanne and her family. Your care brought comfort during life’s most difficult moments, and your support means more than words can express. We are truly grateful for all that you do.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Cancer Society, or the National MS Society in honor of Jeanne K. Weeks.
