Evelyn Jean (Jeannie) Thom, passed away on July 26, 2026, at the age of 76. She was born October 13, 1949, in Red Lodge, Montana, the oldest daughter of the late Iva L. (Hotchkiss) and Charles N. Thom. Jeannie was raised in Laurel, Montana and graduated from Laurel High School in 1969. 

Jeannie married Dennis Braunstadter on December 5, 1969. Together they had three children, Denise, Brenda and Jon. They moved to Carpio, North Dakota and later Berthold. Her and the children moved to Minot after divorcing. While living in Minot she worked at Kmart, Sandman Motel, ING (Insurance) and Cracker Barrel restaurant. In 2010 Jeannie moved back to Laurel, Montana to care for her aging parents. She moved to Ray, North Dakota after her mother’s passing and where she resided upon her death.

Jeannie loved antiquing, and was proud of her large, beautiful collection of depression glass. Jeannie enjoyed collecting rocks and sea glass. She inherited her love of gardening from her mother and enjoyed making flower arrangements for special occasions. She had a rare gift for turning ordinary gatherings into unforgettable memories.

She was strong, she was kind, she was beautiful, she was loving, she was nurturing, and she loved her family and friends with all she had. She loved her life and lived her life to the fullest. In the last few months and years that were filled with heartbreak and illness, she never stopped being the amazing woman she was. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She treasured her lifelong friendships, which she had many.

Among her survivors are her daughters, Denise (James) Long, Lompoc, California, and Brenda (Lance) Daniel, Ray; grandson, Levi Long, San Francisco, California; granddaughter, Madison (Jordan Kelly), Australia; grandson, Zane Daniel, Ray; sisters, Patsy Lindberg, Great Falls, Montana, and Chari Thom, Billings, Montana; brother, Charles Thom, Denver, Colorado; aunt, Marsha Hotchkiss, Billings, Montana; uncle, James Hotchkiss, Laurel, Montana; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jon; and her parents.

She loved her children and family - TO THE MOON AND BACK!!
