Jerda Pearline Blumhagen, 92, Bismarck, joined her heavenly family on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
A graveside service will take place this spring.
Jerda was born on April 10, 1930, in Fargo, ND. She grew up in the McClusky area, graduating from McClusky High School in 1948. In June 1949, she married Lawrence Blumhagen. Lawrence and Jerda lived in various places, and in 1962 settled in Tuttle. In 1972 they relocated to Steele and lived there until 1981 when they moved to Bismarck.
She lived her entire life with a servant’s heart, always doing for others. Jerda loved children and they loved her. She was always watching a child, children or an entire houseful of children. Being a Sunday school teacher was her calling. The children who attended her church most likely had her for a Sunday school teacher at some point in their lifetime. Jerda was a wonderful cook and loved crocheting, handiwork and quilting.
Jerda is survived by daughters, Bonnie (Doug) Arndt, Bismarck, and Shanna (Trenton) Creeden, Bismarck; sons-in-law, Tom DeKrey, Steele, and Lloyd Giese, Steele; granddaughter, Sarah (Brandon) Badding, Langdon; grandsons, Steven (Emilie) DeKrey, Grand Forks, Robert (Nicole) DeKrey, Bismarck, Race Creeden, Woodbury, MN, and Jordan Arndt, Bismarck; great-grandchildren, Cora, Aubrey, Aeryn, Athena, Scarlet, Emma, Noah and Lea; sisters, Mayola Holen, Lorraine Blumhagen, Arlene (Clifford) Biech and Vinita Lemler.
Jerda is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; daughters, Jolene Giese, Phoebe DeKrey; and brother, Wesley Helm.
