Jewel Grudem Hervey was the best jewel in our family. She passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from cancer. Jewel was 89 years old.
A burial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, June 27, 2025 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Born in 1935, she grew up in Freda, ND on a farm. After getting married in 1960 to Warren Hervey, they moved to Minot, ND where she worked for the Farmers Union Oil company for 10 years. They moved back to Bismarck in 1972 after purchasing City Schwinn Cyclery which later became Warren's Locks and Keys. She was very involved in the business handling all the accounting for it. They sold the business in 1992.
Together, Jewel and Warren raised four children in Bismarck. Warren passed away in 2007.
Jewel loved reading - often reading three books a week. She also knitted, crocheted, made beautiful Norwegian Hardanger embroidery pieces, sewed, quilted, and cross stitched. She loved all things sparkling. Anything that could catch the light of the sun.
She was preceded in death by her parents, E. Milton Palma (Polly) Grudem, of Flasher, ND; husband, Warren Hervey of Bismarck; sister, Marion (Ronald) VandenBurg of Lark, ND; and sons, Dean Hervey of Eagan, MN, and Alan Hervey of Bismarck.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Fergesen of Edina, MN along with her husband, Rick, and their three sons, her grandsons, Connor Fergesen of Minneapolis, MN, Jack Fergesen, of Arlington, VI, and Will Fergesen, of Minneapolis, MN; and son, Mike Hervey, of Bismarck, ND.
