Joan Diane Fitzgerald, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home on April 16, 2026. She went to heaven surrounded by the comfort of a life well lived.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave, Bismarck.

Joan was born on January 10, 1947, in Boise, Idaho. She later moved to North Dakota, where she received her high school diploma from the Anne Carlson School in Jamestown.

Throughout her life, Joan was known for her kind heart and deep sense of community. She dedicated many years volunteering with the Easter Seals Association, touching countless lives with her generosity and compassion. Joan lived for a time at Missouri Slope Lutheran Home in Bismarck before moving to Minot, where she was proud to live independently for the remainder of her life.

Her faith was an important part of her life, and she found great joy in attending church. Joan also formed meaningful friendships with her caregivers and those around her, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Joan is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Cindi, Debi, Faith, and Faye, as well as her brothers-in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Emma Fitzgerald, along with her grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

Joan will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her warmth, resilience, and the love she shared with family and friends.
