Joan (Sharp) Lorenz of Bismarck passed away on April 22, 2026, at her home at Touchmark.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday April 29, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 520 Raymond St, Bismarck.

Burial will be held at 12:00 PM at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.

Joan was 94 years old and continued to enjoy her friends and her multiple weekly card games right to the end. She was an avid, lifelong Twins fan who seldom missed a game.

One of 14 siblings who lost both parents very early, Joan retained a strong commitment to family, faith, and friends.

During her working years, Joan was a medical laboratory assistant, and it was while she was in training that she met the love of her life, Russell Lorenz, with whom she shared 70 years of married life. They had three children and always enjoyed spending time with their kids, grandchildren, and extended family.

In earlier years, Joan enjoyed dancing with Russ at the KC, Elks, and Eagles lodges, as well as visiting and entertaining among their wide circle of friends. She was an avid league bowler who designed and sewed uniforms for herself and other members of her Sioux Sporting Goods team. Most of all, Joan loved playing bridge, belonging to several bridge clubs for nearly 60 years.

Joan was preceded in death by Russell, her 13 siblings, and numerous other loved ones, and will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, and countless others whose lives she touched.
