Jody Dawson

Jody Dawson went home to be with the Lord August 5, 2025. He was born February 5, 1959, to Wendal and Naomi (Cusic) Dawson.

A memorial service will be held 2 P.M. Saturday, August 9 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. Family will greet guests one hour prior to service.

He grew up on the family farm south of Almont where he worked his whole life farming and ranching. He married Patty Hager on August 10, 1979, and welcomed his first child, Tyler, two years later. Second child, Lexie, was next, and their family was complete!

He loved hunting and anything to do with guns and shooting. His pride and joy were hosting his annual .22 shoot at the family farm. He processed all of his game and spent many hours on recipes for the spices for his sausage making.

He excelled in woodworking by making the most beautiful and unique projects. His knowledge of how things worked was endless, repaired and built most of the equipment.

He was a gentle, quiet man who loved everyone he met. Friends became family and he gave the greatest hugs! His teasing and practical jokes were practiced on everyone. His big heart is what got him in the end.

He is survived by his wife of almost 46 years, Patty (Hager) Dawson; son, Tyler (Pam) Dawson; daughter, Lexie (Dan) Meidinger; brother, Kelly (Marcy) Dawson; granddaughters, Madison and Paiton Foster; and a great-grandson on the way; brother-in-law, Dennis (Tracie) Sailer; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Lyle) Chellin and Shirley Dawson; and many nieces and nephews who he became a second father to!

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws; two brothers-in-law; and one sister-in law.
