Joe was born on January 30th, 1943, to Frank and Barbara (Wald) Olheiser at his home in Napoleon. He was the 2nd oldest of 7 children.
Joe married the love of his life, Alice Jangula on September 2nd, 1963, in Linton, ND. They were married for 60 years. They were a living definition of true love and devotion, as Joe passed 10 short months after Alice. They could not live life apart from each other.
After getting married they lived in Sterling, ND for 6 months. Joe worked for Bill Albright at Tops Service Filling Station. In the summer of 1964 they moved to Strasburg, ND, where he worked for the Strasburg Elevator. In 1970 he began his 40-year career at the Strasburg Farmers Lumber Yard. If you purchased anything from the lumber yard chances are that Joe delivered it to your yard.
His favorite job was driving the van for the Strasburg Care Center. He enjoyed visiting and talking German to the residents. He did this for about 10 years.
In January 1965 their son Duane was born. They were very loving and devoted parents to Duane. In June of 1986 he gained a daughter-in-law Beverly (Van Boven). He often referred to Bev as his daughter instead of his daughter-in-law.
In 1988 he took on his favorite role as papa to Brittany Dawn and then again in 1993 to Kalyn Jo. His grandgirls were his everything. He loved every moment he spent with them even as they became adults. Later in life he became a great grandpa to Addison Dawn, Cooper Ole, and Bennett Joe. He looked forward to their visits and loved playing with them.
He enjoyed camping, bowling, playing pinochle, word search puzzles, watching westerns, gardening, building things, and the occasional trip to the casino with his dear wife, Alice.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Bev; grandchildren, Brittany (Casey) Quale, and Kalyn (John) Olheiser; his great grandchildren, Addison, Cooper, and Bennett Joe Quale; one sister-in-law, Bernie Olheiser; one brother-in-law, Dale Ullrich and Gary Prouty; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Tony Rothacker; and brother and sister-in-law, Andy and Nora Jangula.
Waiting for him in Heaven was his precious wife, Alice; infant daughter, Karen Ann; and infant son, David. Parents, Frank and Barbara; brothers, Mike, George, and Tony; sisters, Betty, Mary Ann, and Barbara; mother and father-in-law, Andrew and Isabell Jangula; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Kathy Bichler.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center for providing such excellent care for our beloved Joe.
