John Holzer, 87, Bismarck, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Sanford Hospital, Bismarck. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 25, 11:00 AM, at Cornerstone Community Church, 111 E Wachter Ave, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck.

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

John was born on May 12, 1932 in Strasburg to Valentine and Genevieve (Fischer) Holzer. At the age seven John and his family moved to Bismarck. On September 27, 1969 he married Millie Lennick in Beulah. Following his service in the Army, he began his immensely satisfying 45 year career with the North Dakota Department of Transportation.

John was an avid bowler and New York Yankees fan. He and Millie enjoyed a wonderful trip to Hawaii in 1996 when he caught a 185-pound Marlin. Finally, John thoroughly enjoyed having a good cup of coffee and watching old westerns.

He is survived by his wife Millie; one sister Emma Holzer; brother-in-law Melvin (Les) Lennick; sisters-in-law Buffy Ustanko and Lynette Lennick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his son Monte; his parents; five brothers Ray, Tony, Jake, Joe and Adam; and three sisters Cecelia, Mary, and Ann.
