John passed away on July 30, 2026 at CHI-St. Alexius Medical Center after a four month battle with cancer.

Family will greet guests from 10am-12pm to share memories of John and enjoy refreshments on Wednesday, August 12, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 3117 E Century Ave, Bismarck, ND.

Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

John was born to Angie (Angeline) Baumgartner and Felix Miller on December 19th, 1959, in Bismarck. He attended schools here in Bismarck and worked at the Gateway Mall for many years.

John was a kind and gentle person, a "cool dude" and "the funny guy at Grandma's house," as per his nieces. In his younger days, he enjoyed camping and fishing.

John will be remembered for his laugh; his good sense of humor and his love of movies. His greatest passions, however, were painting and playing the guitar. Through his art and music, John expressed a part of himself that words could never fully capture.

John is survived by his family, Kathy (Sonny) Beckler, Bismarck; Terri (Larry) Kuss, Strasburg; Tim Miller, Shelly (Francis) Bosch, both Bismarck; his brother-in-law, Jeff Metzger, Mound, MN and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Angie; brothers, Danny and Bob and sisters, Judy, Mary, and Charlotte; niece, Rebecca Rae Kuss; and great-grandnephew, Roman A. Kuss. 

We want to thank the doctors and staff at CHI-St. Alexius Medical Center, Sanford Medical Center and his friend Megan Thiel for helping care for him.
