John D. Schneider, 90, Bismarck, passed away on May 23, 2026. 

A funeral service will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 3117 E Century Ave. With a visitation being held one hour prior to the service.

Graveside Service will be held at the Wing Cemetery at 1 PM on Thursday, June 4.

John was born on January 16, 1936, to Kathryn and Henry Schneider in Arena, ND. He was preceded in death by his wife Valdine, his parents, ten siblings, and son-in-law Mark Schulz. He is survived by his son Lonnie (Nancy) Schneider and daughter Tamie Steinman, three grandchildren Rhiannon (Brandon) Stockert, Desiree (Jay) Olinger, and Tara Schneider, and three great-grandchildren Sophie, Jaime, and Samuel Stockert, sister-in-law, Judi Schneider; and many nieces and nephews. 

John married Valdine Fitzgerald on December 22, 1957. John came from a large family, and reunions and get-togethers were always full of jokes, laughter, and sharing memories.

John was a beekeeper a large portion of his life, eventually operating his own business, Schneider Apiaries. He was a hard worker - no job was too difficult for him to tackle. He loved to tell and hear jokes, and he always had a new joke to tell. He enjoyed watching John Wayne and Walker Texas Ranger movies and had a saying, “I’m going to lay a little Walker on you.” He liked being outdoors, cutting firewood, hunting and fishing, birdwatching, and gardening. He always had vegetables to give away from his abundant gardens. John loved being around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed helping Val with her daycare.

His outgoing spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
