Joyce Lacher

Joyce Lacher (83), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully January 13th, 2023, in Bismarck, surrounded by family. 

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, Jan. 19, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1402 E Ave C, Bismarck, with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. A prayer service will begin at 7:00 P.M.

Joyce Berreth was born on Aug. 31, 1939, in Mound City, SD. She was the daughter of Peter and Bertha Berreth. Shortly after, Joyce’s family moved to Pollock, SD, where she was raised on the family farm. She married Gene Lacher on Sept. 19, 1958. Together they raised four children.

Joyce was adored by her family and friends for her sweet, yet stubborn demeanor. Always filling every room with her infectious laugh and sassy comebacks. She had endless energy and was known for being a great cook and baker. Joyce looked forward to preparing holiday meals, bringing the family together and keeping their bellies full. She loved drinking coffee and reading the daily paper. Joyce spent endless summers fishing and camping with family and friends and making countless memories with her children and grandchildren. Winters were spent with her beloved husband of 63 years, Gene, in Bullhead City, AZ, often winning “big” in the casinos but keeping it a surprise until returning home. Family and friends will truly cherish her memory and she will be missed deeply by all.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Gene; children, Paul (Ruth) Lacher, Dan (Karla) Lacher, Mike (Joanie) Lacher and Mary (Mark) Dahl; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Alicia, Mary, Summer, Lexi, Trevor, and Hailee; ten great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Berreth.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and first grandson, Daniel Cole, who we know, is now back in her loving arms.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
