Judith Fettig, 79, Bismarck, passed away Nov. 23, 2021, at home after a year long battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully in her sleep. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8 at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave., Bismarck. Family will greet guests one hour prior at the funeral home. All friends and family are welcome to attend.

Burial will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Judith Ann was born August 23, 1942, to Edwin and Stella Lund of Bowdon. After graduating from Bowdon High School, Judy attended the University of North Dakota, where she met her future husband, Kenneth Fettig of Linton. Ken and Judy were married in January 1964 in Fessenden. The US Navy took the newlyweds to San Diego, California, where they lived for 15 years. While in San Diego, a daughter was born in 1968 and a son in 1969. In 1979 Judy and Ken returned home to North Dakota.

Judy absolutely loved North Dakota, especially the outdoors. From her one-fourth acre garden in Linton to spending time on their pontoon on the Missouri River, Judy embraced her home state to the fullest.

As well as being a full-time mother to her two children, Judith had a fruitful career. Ken and Judy owned and operated a small business in Linton for eight years. After moving to Bismarck in 1987, Judy held administrative roles at both a local hospital and an employment agency. Ken and Judy retired the same year, so they could enjoy traveling together.

Following Ken’s passing in 2014, Judy filled her time with newly discovered friends and hobbies. Judy socialized often, be it volunteering at local charities, playing cards with her circle of close friends or enjoying her important connections with local family.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Michelle Granberg, Idaho Falls, Ida.; son, Michael (Anna) Fettig, Rutland, United Kingdom; grandchildren, Joseph Barkow and Michael Barkow, Idaho Falls, Ida., Farrah Fettig and Felix Fettig, Minneapolis, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; and parents, Edwin and Stella Lund.
