Ken was born in Beulah on October 18, 1939, the son of Frank and Freda (Buchmann) Fetch. His family moved to Bismarck where he graduated from St. Mary’s Central High School in 1957. He served in the National Guard for 8 years, which included being activated during the Berlin crisis in 1961. Ken had a lengthy career in the electrical field starting as an apprentice for O&M Electric and retiring as a Projects Senior Manager for 3M Corporation. Ken married Cynthia K. Sayler on August 6, 1960. They were the proud parents of two daughters, Kim and Kerrie; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Kylie and Corey; and a very special brother-in-law, whom they raised and loved like a son, Russ Sayler. Although their marriage came to an end, they continued their friendship and their joint pride and joy was their family. Although Ken lived miles away, he traveled home to spend family time with his beloved daughters and for his grandchildren’s special events. Ken loved family dinners and playing family games. Ken recently celebrated the wedding of Stephanie and Matthew, was looking forward to the upcoming wedding of Kylie and Ben, and enjoyed cheering for Corey at his many sporting events. Ken was a kind, tender-hearted, compassionate man who always lent a hand, whether it be encouragement, support or love to family, friends or to those in need. He was a very generous man, and donated to charities for children, animals and veterans. Ken enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and golfing. He came from a very talented family and was a great artist, musician and vocalist. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing his favorite Johnny Cash songs. He loved to sing Kim and Kerrie to sleep at night when they were children. Their favorite songs were “The Battle of New Orleans” and “Scarlett Ribbons.” Ken was an avid New York Yankees, Green Bay Packers and Legacy Sabers fan. He loved his grand-puppies and always had treats in his pockets for them when he arrived; they anxiously greeted him with their tails wagging. Ken is survived by his children Kim (Steve) Feist and Kerrie (Curt) Helm, both of Bismarck; his grandchildren, Stephanie (Matthew) Kaskavitch of Denver, Kylie (Ben Buchholz, fiancé) and Corey Helm (Madi Schatz, girlfriend), all of Bismarck; Russ (Kathleen) Sayler, their children Jon (Kelly) and James (Mindy) Sayler and Bethany (Jeff) Wolff, all in the Bismarck area; brothers and sisters include Dorothy Preabt, Norman (Mary) Fetch, Vern (Margaret) Fetch, Bonny Fetch, and Judi Johnson, all of Bismarck; Tom (Janice) Fetch, Fargo; sister-in-law Shirley Fetch; and many nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; beloved brother, Wilfred “Willie” and sister-in-law, Nancy Fetch; brother-in-law, Harley Preabt; infant brother, LaVern; infant daughter, Marcie; and special nephew Jason Sayler.
