Kevin Kirsch

May 2, 1954 — June 23, 2025

Kevin Kirsch, 71, Mandan, ND, passed away from a medical emergency while traveling near Coeur D’Alene, Idaho.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 am (CST) on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Century Baptist Church, 205 Colt Ave, Bismarck, ND.

Visitation will be on Monday, from 5:30-7:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, ND.

Kevin was born on May 2, 1954 in Elgin, ND to Herman and Alberta Kirsch. He joined a sister at home, his brother, and another sister followed. They grew up on the farm near Mott, ND.

Kevin went to Mott Public School grades 1 to 10 and later attended his Junior and Senior year at Sunshine Bible Academy near Miller, SD. He played football and ran track at Sunshine and sang in the choir. He enjoyed all these activities and shared stories about them with his children as they were growing up. He graduated high school from Sunshine in 1972 and then attended a few months of Agriculture College in Williston, ND.

He purchased a farm north of Belfield, ND in the spring of 1973. He began attending Manning Community Church at that time and met the love of his life, Collette. They were married on August 3, 1974 in Killdeer, ND and began their life together on the farm. They welcomed Klayton and Kristie to their family in June of 1975. Koreen was born during a blizzard in January 1979 and KariLee in June 1980. With the family complete, life on the farm was busy as he continued to grow their farm business. He was very involved in everything with the children growing up. The children were active in sports and music in school and he was always there. He became the official taxi driver for the cheerleaders for most games. As the children grew older, it was not uncommon for him to plan a spur of the moment family vacation in between haying and harvest season. Lots of family memories were made on these vacations.

He was involved in the Manning Community Church as a worship leader, Sunday school teacher, and deacon. Kevin enjoyed singing and doing so with his family brought him great joy. He would share the Gospel and his faith openly with anyone and was a great role model for his children and grandchildren.

He was recognized as the Jaycee’s National Young Farmer Runner Up in 1989. Kevin served on the Southwest Grain Board for 30 years. Since he loved farming so much, this was a great fit for him.

Because of Kevin’s great love for the Lord, he was excited to learn about Steer Inc. This provided a way for a simple farmer/rancher to reach the world for Jesus. Kevin was a part of Steer Inc. for 41 years and served in many roles.

Kevin and Collette retired in November 2021, sold the farmstead, and purchased a home north of Mandan, ND. He enjoyed watching the farming near them, going for drives to look at farmland, and spending time with Collette. They delighted in traveling together and would often go on mini vacations. They attend Cornerstone Community Church where he assisted singing for worship services. He was blessed to see his children become parents and deeply cherished each of his grandchildren. He attended some of the grandchildren's school activities when able. He would spend his spare time in prayer for his children and grandchildren and bragged on them to anyone that would listen.

He is survived by his wife, Collette, his children Klayton (Susanne) Kirsch of Dickinson, ND, Kristie (Brent) Bogar of Bismarck, ND, Koreen (Tim) Hammel of Hot Springs, SD, and KariLee (Wayne) Dancer of San Tan Valley, AZ; his grandchildren Jacob and Isabel Kirsch, Hope Bogar, Terry and Tessa Hammel, and Precious and Micah Dancer. He is also survived by his mother Alberta Kirsch, Dickinson, ND, sister Kelsie Myers (Danny), Creighton, NE, sister Kaye Kirsch, Dickinson, ND, and brother Keith (Wanda) Kirsch, Valley City, ND.

He is preceded in death by his father, Herman and many relatives.
