Kristi (Lang) Whitman of Breezy Point, Minnesota died Thursday, August 27, 2026 after a courageous journey with ovarian cancer.

Born in 1982 and raised in Mandan, North Dakota, Kristi built a life centered on creativity, curiosity, adventure, and the people she loved most.

Kristi earned her bachelor's degree from North Dakota State University and later a master's degree from the University of Minnesota. She worked as a website and product designer in the technology industry. Her career took her to companies in Minneapolis, Seattle, and San Francisco.

Outside of work, she was an artist, photographer, and lifelong maker who was rarely without a creative project. Kristi loved being outdoors and felt most at home in nature. She found joy in hiking wooded trails, riding her bike, camping, exploring small towns, photographing nature, and spending time on Minnesota lakes. She believed that some of life's best moments were the simple ones.

More than anything, Kristi loved her husband, Rob. Together since 2006, they built a life filled with friendship, laughter, shared adventures, and unwavering support. She also adored her cats, Lou and Grizzly, who brought comfort and entertainment to her every day.

Kristi is survived by her husband, Rob, a special sister Stephanie Nieswaag (Darren), Parents Dave and Vivian Lang, Parent-in-laws Ron and Connie Whitman, Sister-in-law Ann Whitman (Nathan Bullis), Sister-in-law Rachel-Whitman Komadina (Jason Komadina), Three nephews and one niece: Owen, Aster, Ronan, Theo, and many family members, friends, coworkers, and loved ones who will miss her dearly.

Kristi’s funeral service will be held at Eastgate Funeral Service in Bismarck, ND on Friday September 4, 26 at 2pm. The service will be livestreamed for friends and family who are unable to attend in person.

In lieu of flowers, Kristi requested that you spend time outdoors, create something beautiful, help someone who needs it, and tell the people you love that you love them.
