Larry Dale Thompson, 79, Mandan, ND passed away (at home) on December 26, 2025.

Larry was born on August 20, 1946, in Glendive, MT to Dale and Audrey (Trulock) Thompson. He spent his childhood in Glendive where he graduated from Dawson County High School in 1965. He worked in various construction and oil field jobs until he enlisted in the navy in 1966. He spent one year in Vietnam and received an honorable discharge in 1970, after which he returned to Glendive.

Larry met his future wife, Sharon Bertsch, in Glendive and they were married on June 12, 1971. In 1975, they were blessed with a son, Eric.

Larry worked as a machinist for the BN Railroad in Glendive and Mandan for 24 years.

Any day he was hunting or fishing with his friends or family, was a “good” day. Larry was always busy and liked to garden and do repairs around the house.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; his son, Eric and his wife, Lisa, California; and two special granddaughters, Juniper Kate and Tabitha Kate Thompson. Larry is also survived by three sisters, Linda Utter, Billings, MT; Gloria Weiss (Cleon), Fromberg, MT; and Christine (Orlynn) Rosaasen, Grand Forks, ND.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Dale; his mother, Audrey; sisters, Carol Marshall, Gertrude Suko, and Beverly Sorensen; his fraternal twin brother, Gary; and one infant brother, Russell.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 31, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. A visitation will start one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
