Lavon Holm, 92, Bismarck, formerly of Columbus, ND, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Columbus. There will be a private family service starting at 10:00 am on Thursday, which friends can join via livestream on the funeral home website. Masks are required for those attending the service.
Lavon was born on August 24, 1928 in Crosby, ND to Odin and Hazel (Molander) Olson. She was raised and educated in that area, graduated Crosby High School in 1946, and then attended business school in Fargo. Lavon and George were married on January 7, 1951, and they made their home in Columbus, where they raised five children.
Mom was dedicated to Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus. She took great joy in playing the organ for many years, for church services, weddings and funerals. She was a member of T.L.C.W., sang in the choirs, and taught Bible and Sunday school. The friendships made through her church family were lifelong and cherished.
Mother spent many hours in the yard, tending her flowers, especially her peonies. Her theory on backyard décor was there is always room for one more gazing ball or string of lights. Mom had many fine qualities, she was well known for her sense of humor and her ability to remember everything.
Lavon is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Arley) Larson, Ray, Barbara Hill, Pamela Holm and Lisa Holm, all of Bismarck; five grandchildren, David (Misty) Larson, Blair, NE, Corey Larson, Ray, Eric Larson, Mandan, Erin (Mike) Snider, Mora, MN and Alex Hill, Denver, CO; two great grandchildren, Mya and Devin Larson, Blair, NE, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; son, Steven; parents, Odin and Hazel Olson and sister Gloria Johnson.
Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church, 601 Main St, Columbus, ND 58727
