“For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds says the Lord” (Jeremiah 30:17)

Leonard Brilz went home to the Lord on August 14, 2026, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck. Leonard was born to Albertina and Nicodemus Brilz in 1931.

A Mass of Christan Burial will start at 11 a.m., on Monday August 24, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1321 Braman Ave,

 A Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., on Sunday August 23, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 3117 E Century Ave, with a vigil starting at 5 p.m.

Burial will be held at the Mandan Union Cemetery.

Leonard helped build trails West Theatre—south of Mandan—in 1959. His many jobs included tax assessor, circulation manager, and TV repairman. Leonard was a musician for 72 years, playing with a number of bands, combos, and orchestras. He played taps for the VFW Honor Guard funerals for 12 years. He made Christmas special every year, placing the Star upon the roof, glowing for all to see.

Leonard is survived by his children, Barry (JoAnn) Brilz and Kim (Myron) Wutzke; his grandchildren, Nick (Sarah) Brilz, Ben (Morgan) Brilz, Lacey (Ethan) Bakken, Josh (Larissa) Brilz, Jake (Alex) Wutzke, and Josie Wutzke; and his great-grandchildren.

Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita; his parents; and three siblings, George, Isabelle, and Catherine.
