Lillian was born on February 10, 1941 to August Pfingsten Sr. and Lorina (Christmann) Pfingsten on the family farm southwest of Wheatland, ND. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Embden, ND and attended East Gill Grade School through 5th grade. In 1953, she moved with her mother and brother William to Hazen, ND where she was confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church and graduated from Hazen High School in 1959. After graduation, Lillian worked as a secretary for Truax-Traer Coal Company/Dakota Star Mine.
Lillian married Paul Reinhardt on April 24, 1960 at Peace Lutheran Church in Hazen, ND. They lived in many locations throughout North Dakota as Paul worked construction, finally settling in Hazen, ND in 1961.
Lillian was an active volunteer in the community, including with the Hazen Community Chest, Peace Lutheran Church, Hospice, and was a 4-H leader for 18 years. Lillian had many interests and liked to play softball, walk, ride bike, garden, and play cards and all types of games. She was also an avid collector of antique dishes, coins, and stamps. Summers were spent camping near Lake Sakakawea, and winters were spent snowmobiling. Lillian enjoyed going to polka dances with Paul, and together they traveled to every state in the U.S. In later years, she enjoyed ushering at the Norsk Hostfest in Minot and volunteering at Medora. Lillian was a tremendous cook of german food, including award-winning caramel rolls – a special treat she made whenever the grandkids came to visit. Family was of utmost importance to Lillian, and she will be missed dearly by all.
