Loretta A. Holweger

December 2, 1958 — June 22, 2024

Bismarck

Loretta “Lori” Holweger passed in the early gloomy hours of June 22, 2024 after many years of struggling with both physical and mental issues.

Nothing was the same for her after her husband, Rick Holweger passed away on January 7, 2023, on their 39th wedding anniversary. Her world was completely changed that day and would never return to what it once was. Lori is now reunited with her beloved husband who loved, adored, and cared for her for many years.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, July 1 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Lori was born on December 2, 1958, the first of three children to Donna (Thompson) and Walter Werre. Donna remained caring for Lori and by her side as much as she could, especially after Rick's death, being her constant support and bringing her comfort in her changed world.

Lori was a vivacious woman with an ornery streak. She would tell you she was always sweet and innocent with a crooked smile on her face. Lori, more than anything else wanted to be a mom. She had three beautiful children, Sarah, Jenna, and Cole. They were almost as ornery as her. As well as having two of the cutest and most awesome grandsons, Logan and Jake (Jacob) Friez.

Lori valued her friendships and was quite the extrovert spending many, many hours on the phone and with friends. Some of her friends she held onto since her high school days. She probably spent even more hours buried in a good book with a glass of iced tea. She also had a love for crocheting. Lori passed her love of books onto her girls, they just didn't realize it until later years.

Lori shared a special bond with her mentally disabled son, Cole. She spoke with him nearly every day to give her motherly advice and lend a listening ear.

May she never miss another chance to dance with the love of her life.

Lori is survived by her daughters, Sarah (Nick) Friez and Jenna Holweger; son, Cole Holweger; grandsons, Logan and Jacob Friez, all of Steele; "extended" daughter, Amber Harsche, Menoken; mother, Donna Vallarano, Bismarck; brothers, Scott Werre and children, Bottineau, and Todd (Shelley) Werre and children, Lincoln; sister, Gail (Dan) Greeley and children, Fairmont, MN; step-mother, Jeanie Werre, Bismarck; and cousin and friend, Sally Briggs, Moorhead, MN.

Lori was preceded in death by her husband, Rick Holweger; father, Walter Werre; aunt, Robin Werre; mother and father-in-law, Evelyn and Richard Schroeder; and sister-in-law, Melanie Werre.
