Lori, a remarkable woman whose warmth and curiosity touched the lives of many, passed away on September 3, 2026. Born on July 28, 1958, in Bismarck, North Dakota, Lori's life was a testament to the power of exploration and the joy of discovery.

Lori's journey began in Bismarck, where she graduated from Bismarck High School in 1976. Her thirst for knowledge led her to the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree. She furthered her education at Kansas State University, obtaining a Master's Degree in Linguistics. Armed with her education, Lori embarked on a diverse career path that included working as an environmental engineer at an open-pit gold mine in Nevada. Her passion for storytelling and the mysterious was evident in her authorship of the book "Spooky, Creepy North Dakota," which captured her fascination with the paranormal.

Lori's interests were as varied as her career, spanning writing, reading, gardening, her sisters Shari and Nancy, and baking. Her love for animals was a defining aspect of her life, and she shared her journey with many beloved dogs, including her cherished Akitas, Kato and Kimiko. In her later years, Lori found companionship and joy living with her sister, Shari Orser, and their dog, Jethro, who brought warmth and laughter to their home.

The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Furry Friends , of Bismarck, in Lori's honor, allowing her spirit of generosity and kindness to continue.

Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, Lori's spirit and the love she shared with those around her will forever remain in our hearts.

A memorial service will start at 11 a.m., on Thursday, September 10, at First Presbyterian Church, 214 E Thayer Ave, with visitation being held one hour prior to the service.
