Obituary

Luella (Okken) Lang, 82 of Bismarck, ND went to be with her Lord in heaven on August 24, 2026. Luella was born on a farm in Hettinger County on May 19, 1944.

She graduated from New Leipzig High and went on to Dickinson State, earning degrees in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. She impacted many lives as a teacher for 36 years, most of those years in private and public Kindergarten. There was rarely an outing that didn’t involve someone in the community recognizing “Mrs. Langg!!”

She married Jerry Lang on June 20, 1969. They had two children, Ryan and Tanya.

Completing their family with 4 amazing grandchildren, Paige, Max, Grant, and Joy. Luella cherished time with family. Jerry and Luella had a gift for hospitality. Many meals were shared and many life events were celebrated in their home and under their gazebo!

Luella also enjoyed gardening and always shared her harvest with friends and family.

Her legacy continues. She is survived by her husband, Jerry; children, Ryan Lang (Beth) and Tanya Mueller (Dave); grandchildren, Paige and Grant Lang and Max and Joy Mueller. She is also survived by her brother, James Okken and his wife Cleone; sister Shirley Roehl and her husband Floyd; and many nieces and nephews as well. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ida Okken; brother Don Okken and his wife Lorrine Okken; her in-laws Floyd and DeLores Lang; and brothers-in-law Clarence Wetzel and Dale Oliver.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, August 28, at the Bismarck Baptist Church, 2211 Laforest Ave.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-6:30 pm, with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 pm, Thursday, August 27, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 3117 E Century Ave, Bismarck.

Burial will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, August 28, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
