Lyle A. Wolfer

August 29, 1953 — November 5, 2023

Lyle Wolfer passed away on November 5, 2023 in Fargo, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, Nov. 10, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck.

Born on August 29, 1953 in Bismarck, Lyle spent his first years on the family farm outside of Hazen before the family moved to Bismarck where he attended school. He began working at Rough Rider Industries in 1983 where he spent many years as a production supervisor until he retired in 2012.

In retirement, he enjoyed serving as a player’s assistant at Prairie West golf course. For several years, Lyle donated the use of his golf cart to the Out of the Darkness Walk at the State Capitol which raises awareness for suicide prevention.

Lyle was an avid fan of Vikings football, Braves baseball, and even Islanders hockey later in life. He had many hobbies including softball, racquetball, golfing, bowling, hunting, and fishing. He had a passion for electronics and was always trying to figure out what made things work, taking them apart and putting them back together. He was very handy and was always willing to help when someone was in need, whether an issue with a car or something mechanical that wasn’t quite working the way it should.

He loved his family and could often be found attending his children’s, grandchildren’s and other family member’s various sporting and extra-curricular events as one of their biggest supporters. Lyle will be greatly missed but is now at peace with the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Marlene Wolfer and his grandson, Elijah Skeen.

Lyle is survived by his son, Michael (Jaylenn) Wolfer; daughter, Sarah Skeen; sister, Darlene (Bob) Jackson; brother, Leroy Wolfer; sister, Debra Wolfer (Tom Weiand), brother, Mark Wolfer (Carol Deines); grandsons,  TJ Gunsch, Brennan Wolfer, and Troy Mayhew; niece, Tara (Brandon) Heidrich; nephews, Derek Wolfer, Ryan Jackson, and Dylan Wolfer; cousin, Tim (Sue) Kruckenberg. Additional special family members Trent Kruckenberg, Kati Hanson, Scott Rings, Jonathan Rings, Jason Rings; expected baby grandson, Beckett, along with many additional cousins and friends who he held dear.
