Marcella Will

October 28, 1939 — February 10, 2023

Marcella “Sally” Will, 83, Elgin, ND passed away Friday, February 10, 2023, at The Legacy at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo, IN.  She was born October 28, 1939, on the family farm North of New Leipzig, ND, the daughter of the late John & Emma (Sprecher) Verworn.  On June 12, 1959, at the Johannestal Church north of New Leipzig, she married Ernest H. “Ernie” Will who proceeded her in death on June 25, 2001.

Marcella went to country school thru the eighth grade. She attended hairdresser school in Bismarck, opening her own shop, Marcella’s Mopp Shopp, in her home basement, which she ran for more than 30 years. Marcella and Ernest spent several years moving around nearby states while Ernie worked on construction.  They returned to Elgin in 1967 to raise their 3 children whom they enjoyed watching participate in many sporting activities. Marcella loved flowers and gardening. Her home was always prepared to welcome anyone for a meal of German food, homemade sausage, pickles and canned goods.  After Ernie’s passing Sally continued to live in Elgin. She enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, growing amazing roses, and earning her GED.

Marcella is survived by her children, Julie (Perry) Martinson, Wesley (Kay) Will and Shari Will; grandchildren, Aaron and Karla Martinson, Eric (Cassandra) Will and Nicole Will; siblings, Wilbert (Florence) Verworn, Ronald (Linda) Verworn, Ardella “Dee” (Dennis) Korynta; sisters-in law, Opal (Leonard) Roth and Dorothy Will, along with many nieces and nephews.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernest; brother John (Phyllis) Verworn; parents-in-law Edward and Clara Will; brother-in-law, Emanuel Will and sister-in-law Violet (Bob) Geyer.

Marcella will be laid to rest at 11:00 CDT Friday, August 18, 2023 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND. If you are unable to attend the interment service please join us at our family home from 1 to 6 (MDT) that afternoon for a time of reminiscing.
