Mark was born on May 23, 1953 to Dale and Diane Voss. He married Shirley Baumstarck in 1981, and together they raised two children, Ryan and Chris.
He was a plumber in his early years but decided to further his education. He graduated at age 40 from the University of Mary with honors and a degree in computer science.
Mark started and finished his career with the state of North Dakota, working as a computer analyst at the time of retirement. After retirement, he immersed himself in his hobbies, which included: master gardening, cooking, making freeze-dried foods, and toffee-making, especially during the holidays. If you were lucky enough to receive his toffee, you would know how amazing it was. He was a skilled bowler, voracious reader, and enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. It was always special going to “The Property,” the land on which he and the family dreamed of building homes together. While there, he enjoyed kindling a campfire and spending time with loved ones.
Mark's love for animals was apparent by the way he took care of his dogs. Those dogs won the lottery when received into the Voss family. He had a passion for building custom bird houses. The bird houses were works of art, too beautiful to place outside.
Mark was a very generous man. You never left his presence without him gifting something he made or sharing some nugget of knowledge. He always gave 100% to those who were blessed to know him. Every hobby, every meal, every kind gesture was an act of love. Mark never took the easy way or the cheap way. He spared no expense, especially for those he loved. His family was his pride and joy.
Mark leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Shirley; his children Ryan and Chris (Miranda), three grandchildren; Elijah, Liam, and Mikaya, and another grandchild that will arrive late December, sisters; Sheri Kowal (Dan) Anchorage, AK, Dina Voss, Centennial, CO, brothers; Mike (Marcia) Littleton, CO, Brian, MI, four sisters-in-law; Leona Glatt (Rick), Linda Carmichael (Jamie), Julie Rhoades, Rose Baranyk (Greg), three brothers-in-law; Adam Baumstarck (Joan), Leo Baumstarck, Hilary Baumstarck (Peggy), and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Dale Voss, Diane Voss Shea (John), mother and father-in-law, Rose and John Baumstarck, sister-in-law Mary Baumstarck, four brothers-in-law, John, Allen, and Richard Baumstarck, and Dennis Hempler and nephew, Tommy Guilleaume.
