Marlin Morlock, 79, Bismarck, passed away August 24, 2026. 

A memorial service will be held at 10:30am Saturday, August 29th at Eastgate Funeral Service, 3117 E Century Ave, Bismarck, ND. Visitation will begin at 9:30am. Burial will take place in Pettibone at the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery following a luncheon at the funeral home.

Marlin Lee Morlock was born at home during a blizzard on October 13, 1946. He was the son of Gottlieb and Emma (Martin) Morlock. He grew up on a farm in rural Pettibone and attended country school before going to school in town. He graduated from Pettibone High School in 1964. During and after high school he was employed as a farm hand.

On October 24, 1972, he was united in marriage to Judy Bailey of Wing. They lived in Regan for six years doing farm work, then moved to Bismarck in 1978. After the move he worked on the construction of power plants before becoming a grounds maintenance worker for ND State Department of Facility Management. He retired in the spring of 2012. They had one son, Wayne and one daughter, Kimberly. Marlin was known as Papa to his five grandchildren. He loved and adored them so much. Over the years he enjoyed fishing, his flower and vegetable gardens, woodworking, pinochle with cousins, casino trips followed by an early bird supper at Pizza Ranch. He insisted on hosting holidays for his family, which always included plenty of delicious food, followed by Uno and Caught Cha.

Marlin is survived by his daughter, Kimberly (Brian) Sjomeling, Bismarck; grandchildren, Hailey, David, Savanna, Atticus, and Eden; one sister, Cleo Delzer, Mesa, AZ, and nieces and nephews. 

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Judy, son, Wayne, parents, Gottlieb and Emma, brother Norman, sister Elaine (Virgil) Oberlander.
