It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Lou Smetak on December 3rd, 2024 in Bismarck at the age of 78.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Family will greet guests one hour prior to the service. 

Mary Lou was born in the Mandan Hospital in North Dakota, on July 30th, 1946. After graduating from Mandan High School in 1964, she went to school at Dickinson State and then moved to Virginia for work. During her time there, she got married and had a child before returning home to North Dakota where she worked for Montana Dakota Utilities for many years. 

Her absolute favorite things to do was spend time with her great-grandchildren and going to church. 

Left with fond memories of Mary Lou are her loving sister, Linda Martinson; grandchildren, Brittany Myers (Cole) and Heather Lindberg; nephew, Mike Martinson, great-grandchildren, Izabella, Taeven, Irwen, Eraleigh, Bindi, and Aoife.

She was preceded in death by her parents Emery and Lillian Bethke; and her daughter Bridgette Fettig. 

Burial will be held at Mandan Union Cemetery, Mandan.
