The brightest smile of humor and love joined his Holy Father. Mason Alexander DeVore, September 23, 2008-May 20, 2026, brought joy to each person who had the privilege of meeting him. Mason was a fiercely loving son, devoted hero of a cousin, a nephew always ready for a new adventure, a grandchild of heartfelt devotion, and a friend always ready for a good time and humorous goofiness. Mason’s hugs brought a peaceful comfort ensuring the recipient knew they were loved.

Mason is survived by his loving parents, Jason DeVore and Pamela Birrenkott; grandparents Tim and Chris Birrenkott, Doug and Nancy DeVore, and Muriel DeVore; aunts and uncles, Tyler and Crystal DeVore, Mike and Mary Jo Birrenkott, Grace and Chris Hatch, Andrew and Michayla Birrenkott; and numerous great aunts and uncles, great-grandmothers Kay Janke,Rosemarie Birrenkott and Charene Emond; and his tiny cheering section of cousins - Savannah and Jameson DeVore, Titus, Catherine, Charlie, Annabelle and incoming Scarlett May Birrenkott, Lane and Bristol Birrenkott, and Leighra and Eliza Hatch. Mason is now surrounded by the loving presence of Jesus, great-grandparents Margaret Janke, Marlin Janke, Elwood and Virginia DeVore, David and Bonnie Emond, and Joe Birrenkott, and his cousins that never walked this earth.

Mason’s favorite color was green and to honor his memory, his family requests that people wear black and green at his burial services.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 27, at St Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 318 2nd St SW, Steele, ND.

Visitation will be held from 5-6:30 PM, Tuesday, May 26, at St Francis de Sales Catholic Church. A Rosary/ Vigil service will begin at 6:30 PM.
