Michael Lesmeister 74, of Bismarck, passed away February 27, 2024.
Michael was born March 14, 1949 in Halliday, ND. He was the second of three children born to Anton and Frances (Schumacher) Lesmeister. After his father’s passing, Frances remarried Herman Slag and four more siblings were subsequently added to the family.
Michael proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a hard worker and spent 25 years in the moving industry as a truck driver and later in management. He had a passion for woodwork, yard work, and was a grill master who enjoyed BBQing for his family and friends. Michael’s meticulous care for his yard was a testament to his attention to detail and pride in his home.
Michael was married to his beloved wife, Theresa, for 34 years until her passing in 2022. Together they cherished a life filled with love and companionship. His children and grandchildren were a great source of pride and joy to Michael.
He is survived by his children, Christina (Lee) Terry and Michael Lesmeister; his grandchildren, Tristan Terry, Mikendy Lesmeister, and Isabella Terry; and his siblings, Steve Lesmeister, Carla (Slag) Gellerman, Ken Slag and Dave Slag.
Michael is now at peace, reunited with his parents and siblings, Dr. Gregory Slag and Mary (Lesmeister) Glaser.
Michael will be interred at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan alongside his beloved wife. A memorial service to honor his life is being planned for early spring.
