Morris Wells Conklin was born to to Claude and Genevieve Conklin on August 9, 1947, in Huron, SD. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 29, 2026, in Bismarck, ND. He was preceded in death by his two older brothers, Dean and Orrin. He is survived by his younger brother, Kevin.
Morris met Jacqueline Crisp at Trinity Bible Institute in Jamestown, ND, in 1968. They were married on June 28, 1969, in Spokane, WA, Jackie's home town. They have five sons and daughters-in-law, Blane & Wendy, Grant & Beth, Mason & Sue, Carter & Lianna, and Caleb & Amy, as well as eleven grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
Morris was an ordained minister in the Assemblies of God since 1972. He and Jackie began their ministry in Mobridge, SD, helping build Good Shepherd Indian Bible School. They served as pastors in Pierre, SD, from 1970-1975, in Brookings, SD, from 1975-1978, in Newell, SD, from 1979-1983, in Stanley, ND, from 1984-1985. In 1985, Morris returned to Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, ND, where he earned his B.A. in 1986. During that period, he served as interim pastor in Jamestown, ND. He then pastored in Ellendale from 1987-1993. From 1994-2014, they served with the A/G Division of Foreign Missions at Monte Esperanca Instituto Biblico in Lisbon, Portugal. In 2014, they returned to Bismarck, ND, where they retired and made their home. They have been active at Evangel Church, where he served for several years as a senior adult minister.
Wherever they were, Morris immersed himself in the community and loved the people. He considered his field of ministry to be without boundaries or limits. Several years ago, he wrote down these words: "Even if you take away the ministry, you cannot take away the call - and the ministry will find expression." Even until the very end, he said his calling was without repentance. He felt compelled to encourage, love, and pray for those around him. He will continue to be loved and missed by all those who knew him.
