Myrna Petermann

Myrna Joan Helm Petermann, 92, crossed over on August 31, 2023.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Mandan United Methodist Church, 610 12th St NE, Mandan.

Myrna Joan Helm Petermann was born April 26, 1931 to Emma Lorenz and Emanuel Helm. She graduated from New Salem High school and married the man of her dreams, Carl Anton Petermann on September 19, 1949, entering a new experience as a farm wife.  Together, they created a loving family with their two daughters, Carlynn Petermann Turner and Julie Petermann Bryant.

Myrna was very active in the lives of her children as well as her community and church. She was a founding member of the Mandan United Methodist Church, serving on numerous committees, working in the kitchen, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and picking up where ever needed alongside Carl.

She loved helping people as witnessed by her many vocations including child care, baker of cakes, receptionist for two chiropractors, secretary in several elementary schools and educational aide and cook at a church preschool. She enjoyed visiting and helping people in any capacity and was loved by so many people.

Myrna enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Carly E. Turner Knight, Ellsworth S. Turner III, Dacotah A. Turner, Rudy Gonzales, Kwadwo Otempong and Olivia Bryant. Any reason was a good one to travel to California or bring them here.

She enters heaven to meet her parents, Emma and Emanuel Helm, husband Carl, his parents Richard and Anna Petermann, infant son, son-in-law Ellsworth Scott Turner II and many friends and family.

She will be laid to rest in the Petermann plot at Bethel Cemetery, New Salem, ND.

In lieu of flowers for the family, please take flowers to others and share a special moment in her honor. Any memorials should be given in her name to the Mandan United Methodist Church Woman’s Group or Bethel Cemetery, New Salem, ND.
